Surrendering to sickness

Yesterday I had a good race, I will post a race recap tomorrow, but today I have had to surrender to this sickness that I have not been able to shake for three weeks. I spent most of the morning and part of the afternoon at the doctor's office getting chest x-rays, picking up medicine and the remainder of the day resting.

I am officially sick.

The doctor was concerned with some abnormal sounds in my left lung so I had to have chest x-rays to make sure I didn't have walking pneumonia.

I don't.

What I do have is severe bronchitis that is a couple steps (or runs) away from walking pneumonia. So I am on antibiotics and resting.

Lessons learned from this:
  • If a cold doesn't go away after a week, see a doctor.
  • Don't continue to run 30+ miles a weeks when sick.
  • Sometimes antibiotics are a necessary evil.
  • Admittance is the first step to recovery. :)
If I wouldn't have been soo stubborn headed about being sick I would have been on antibiotics the second week of this crud and would have been 100% at the race on Sunday. My husband would also like to add that if I would have listened to him and sought real medical advice instead of trying to heal myself (viral shock, neti pot, and steam inhaler) all of this could have been avoided.

On the bright side, my dear husband made "brinner" tonight. Chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, eggs and OJ. Yummy!
