Run for today

This morning I decided to push myself and break my four mile barrier with running. I ran FIVE miles today!!  I had to give myself a pep talk before I went to bed that I could actually do it and that I wouldn't pass out on the side of the road.

In everything, I know I get comfortable doing the same thing over and over again. It becomes routine. I like knowing what to expect. I'm a planner. But living life in constant routine does not help us grow. It's great to shake things up. Not knowing what to expect around the corner can be a bit scary but when you make it around the corner it can be freeing!!

One thing I learned at my last 5k was that I can run much faster than I thought I could. I have been questioning why I can pace at 8:42 but on my normal runs I am pacing at 10:00 or more! I'm not saying that I need to run at my race pace everyday but I do think on my normal runs I fall into routine because I don't pay attention to my time.

I am challenging myself to break out of routine and pay attention to my pace on normal runs. I know that this will help me get stronger and make things interesting.

So are you stuck in the same old routine? In your comfort zone?  I challenge you to break routine, bust out of the comfort zone and try something new and maybe little bit scary! What are you going to try?

My stats:
Distance: 5.01 --I did it!! It wasn't as hard as I had built up in my head.
Time: 47:22
Avg. Pace: 9:28 --Yippee!! My pace was great, this is where I want my normal runs to hover at.
Calories Burned: 490
